Jay Anderson was born and raised in Missoula and has fond memories of playing for the Strikers program when he was a youth player. He is happily married and has two children who are currently in the Strikers Academy program. He has enjoyed being a long time MicroStrikers coach, and has been the Academy Director for three years. He holds a national D license and has almost 20 years of experience coaching both at the high school and youth levels.
Jay is also the current head boys’ coach at Hellgate High School, where he has coached for 13 years, both at the JV and varsity level. As a varsity coach, he has helped guide his team to the state tournament seven times, winning the championship in 2011. In the same year, he was named Montana boys’ high school coach of the year and NSCAA regional coach of the year.
He enjoys coaching at the youth level, and loves that the current soccer youth of Missoula have an opportunity to be a part of the Strikers Academy program, which is something he never had an opportunity to participate in growing up. He has seen a dramatic difference in the playing ability of Montana youth today, and he attributes much of this improvement to the Strikers Academy and other youth programs across the state. He is passionate about the game of soccer, and would like to instill a life-long love for the game in all of his players.
