Tryout Expectations
Coaches/evaluators will be looking for the following over the two days of tryouts. This list is not complete; however it gives you an idea of several of the areas that they will be observing.
1. Technical - Control on the ground, control from the air, passing
(short and long), heading, ball striking, individual defending.
2. Tactical - Understands application of techniques (skill),
possession, penetrative play and defending.
3. Athletic/Physical - Agility, balance, coordination, speed,
4. Mental Capabilities - Competitiveness, helpfulness, courage,
aggressiveness, attentiveness, coachable, general attitude.
Additional Tryout Day
Potential for a third tryout day at the coach and technical director's discretion. It is recommended that all players attend this tryout, however, if you have attended two tryouts it is not necessary to attend a third. Obviously the more often you are in front of the evaluators the more complete the evaluation so it is recommended that if your age group has an additional day that you should attend.
Team Formations
The team formations will be posted on our website within two weeks of tryouts. We will send out a message via email informing you of the evening it will be posted. This is a tough time for players when the decision doesn't go in their favor. Please keep in mind; this is also hard for the Coaches making the selections.
Financial Assistance
Strikers would like to make it possible for any child to play competitive soccer. If financial assistance is required, please submit the Scholarship Application Form from our website. You would still be responsible for the $60 registration fee, uniform, and travel costs. Many teams conduct fundraisers to help cover expenses.

Board of Directors
Missoula Strikers is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors currently consisting of 9 members. The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall operation of the club and meets at 6:00pm, second Thursday of the month, Gallagher Business Building. The meetings are open to club members. MSSA President is Torrance Coburn.
MSSA Director
The Director is responsible for the general management of the organization. Heidi MacDonald is the current Director.
MSSA competition committee
The competition committee is made up of primarily Striker Coaches. This group facilitates the recruitment and selection of the coaches, team formation and coaching development (clinics). Our competition committee is currently implementing an exciting Long Term Player Development Model that will ensure player technical development at the highest level.
Team Selections
Competition committee is responsible for the organization of tryouts. Teams are selected by the data the coaches collected during tryouts and the evaluations collected from prior coaches.
U12
Strikers must fulfill the state mandate of equal teams. At this age group, we concentrate almost entirely on developing the skills, talents and attitudes that will be the basis for the players' future success. There are no cuts at this level.
U13
All U13 teams will be equally selected for in state play. We will select a separate Premiere Tournament team from all players participating. Every tournament, a new team will be selected based on skill and attitude.
U14
Team formations are based on the current skill level of the individual player. The teams are divided into Premiere and Select teams. This process of finalizing teams is never easy. While we gain a good deal of information in the try outs, the difference betweenmany whomake the top team and those who do not is very slight. Because team formation at the older ages is based upon a player's current level, the continued development and retention of all our players is vital to Striker's success. We are committed to working with all players to build the necessary skill and attitude to compete at the highest levels, and every player needs to understand that the team formation is a yearly event. All players who make the Premiere team should remember that they must continue to work hard and improve, as their position is not guaranteed. Similarly, players who do not make the top team must understand that if they work hard and develop, they have every opportunity to earn a spot on next year's Premier team.
